Hugh Grant is in talks to star in A24 horror Heretic, the latest from A Quiet Place and 65 duo Scott Beck and Bryan Woods.
Deadline reports that Grant is set to add to an eclectic resume that has seen him steal Paddington 2 from its titular star, be a large part of why Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves remains one of 2023’s best blockbusters, and star in HBO’s most-watched show of 2020, The Undoing, by joining Heretic.
Details are scarce at this stage, but the film is rumoured to focus on two young women of faith who are lured into a cat-and-mouse game in the home of an eccentric man.
Beck and Woods achieved notoriety when A Quiet Place grossed $340 million worldwide, kickstarting a cinematic universe for Paramount that has spawned a sequel, as-well-as 2024’s Lupita Nyong’o-led prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One. The duo were also behind this years dino-duffer 65, and exec produced current box-office success The Boogeyman.
Next up for Grant is Warner Bros’ Willy Wonka origin story, Wonka, in which he continues to surprise by taking on the role of an Oompa Loompa.
