Meg Ryan and David Duchovny rekindle a romance in What Happens Later first look

August 29, 2023 by Amie Cranswick

Bleecker Street has shared a first-look at the upcoming romantic comedy What Happens Later, the second directorial offering from Meg Ryan after 2015’s Ithaca, and her first on-screen role since.

The film sees Ryan starring alongside The X-Files’ David Duchovny as Willa and Bill, two ex-lovers who find themselves snowed in at an airport together overnight. Take a look at the images here, courtesy of EW…

UPDATE: You can now check out the first trailer for What Happens Later here

Two ex lovers, Bill (David Duchovny) and Willa (Meg Ryan) get snowed in at a regional airport overnight. Indefinitely delayed, Willa, a magical thinker, and Bill, a catastrophic one, find themselves just as attracted to and annoyed by one another as they did decades earlier. But as they unpack the riddle of their mutual past and compare their lives to the dreams they once shared, they begin to wonder if their reunion is mere coincidence, or something more enchanted.

What Happens Later is slated for release later this year.
