Is the Scream franchise in need of a new mastermind? It seems like Radio Silence could be stepping away from the upcoming seventh entry.
New reports claim Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett won’t be back to direct Scream VII, as they are currently busy with their upcoming Universal Studios monster movie. The project was recently filmed and has been shrouded in mystery since its inception.
Rumors have swirled for some time about who will direct Scream VII and the scooper revealed that Christopher Landon is in talks for the position.
Landon is a filmmaker best known for his time working in the Paranormal Activity franchise, helming Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. His subsequent films include the horror comedies Happy Death Day, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apolcalypse, Happy Death Day 2U and Freaky, as well as this year’s Netflix film We Have a Ghost.
UPDATE: And here we have confirmation from Christopher Landon himself…
Looks like 7 really is a lucky number.
