If there’s one thing you can count on, Willem Dafoe will go hard for a role. Example: the recent photos from Nosferatu.
Revealed in an EW article, director Robert Eggers offered a new look at the upcoming horror tale, spotlighting Dafoe ahead of the awaited reveal of the titular character.
Dafoe plays a vampire hunter named Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz, who Eggers reveals is a “crazy vampire hunter” — a character he says, “I’ve always loved and related to.”
As we see in the below image, it seems like the film is a showcase of filmmaking. Eggers notes that we can expect some practical horror magic; “That sequence, aside from having real flames, had 2,000 real rats,” says the filmmaker. “Which was challenging but also fun.”
Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is “a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him.”
