With the eighth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise having been delayed until 2025 – and undergoing a name change as it drops ‘Part Two’ from its title – it may be a while before we hear any news about Mission: Impossible 8, but series star Simon Pegg did tease the return of a familiar face.
Taking to Instagram, Pegg shared a photo of Pom Klementieff from the set of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. Klementieff portrayed the villainous Paris, one of the Entity and Gabriel’s lieutenants who repeatedly tried to kill Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell’s Ethan Hunt and Grace. However, the film’s finale left her fate open after she was betrayed by Gabriel and gave Ethan a vital clue to the Entity’s location and, though wounded, still maintained a pulse last we saw of her.
Pegg said of Paris “Hard to kill! If you think you’ve seen the last of Paris… think again.” It seems certain we’ll see more of Paris as she could perhaps aid Ethan and his team even more in their battle against the Entity as well as deliver some payback to Gabriel.

Mission: Impossible 8 was formerly titled Dead Reckoning Part Two, but Paramount announced in October they were dropping the subtitle and have yet to announce a new title. Nevertheless, it will be a continuation of Dead Reckoning Part One as Ethan, Benji and Luther attempt to destroy the Entity before it can gain full control of the world’s security and information. And, in typical Tom Cruise fashion, he has performed several death defying stunts for the film.
Mission: Impossible 8 will see the return of Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Pegg, Henry Czerny, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Mariela Garriga, Mark Gatiss, Charles Parnell and Rolf Saxon. Newcomers for the next film are Holt McCallany, Nick Offerman, Janet McTeer, Hannah Waddingham and Lucy Tulugarjuk.
Mission: Impossible 8 will be released on May 23rd, 2025.
