Big Finish has today released the brand-new full-cast audio drama The First Doctor Adventures: Fugitive of the Daleks. This new six-part adventure written by Jonathan Morris sees the Doctor and an older Vicki once again encounter the dreaded Daleks.
Years after Vicki’s original adventures aboard the TARDIS, she once again encounters the First Doctor when he needs her help. Only too happy to be with the Doctor again she obliges and begins her new adventure at the Doctor’s side. What starts off as a excitement and a revival of old adventures soon becomes perilous as they foil the DALEK’s plans to alter the flow to Earth’s history.
Maureen O’Brien reprises her role as Vicki while Stephen Noonan plays the role of William Hartnell’s First Doctor. Director and script editor Nicholas Briggs provides the voices for the Daleks.
Writer Jonathan Morris said: “I’ve written for Maureen O’Brien as Vicki before a couple of times and what makes her a great companion is pretty much all down to Maureen’s performance. Her cheekiness and gutsiness and sense of wonder. And it was just lovely to write for the character, and knew that Maureen would take what I’d written and elevate it. It meant I could write some pretty emotional, heartfelt stuff in there, knowing that she would play the scenes with absolute truth and make it so much richer.”
Doctor Who – The First Doctor Adventures: Fugitive of the Daleks is available now from the Big Finish website for £22.99 as a collector’s edition CD box set and digital download, or £18.99 for the digital download only.
