Brad Pitt is to reunite with Quentin Tarantino for his final film The Movie Critic.
Per Deadline’s report, it is unclear whether Pitt has been cast in the lead role, but there is a strong belief that he has. It would be third time the two have worked together following Pitt’s Oscar winning performance for 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and 2009’s Inglorious Basterds.
Tarantino has remained uncharacteristically tight-lipped about The Movie Critic, but what we do know is that it will take place in 1977 California, and as he told a Directors’ Fortnight Cannes panel earlier this year the film “is based on a guy who really lived, but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag.”
Interestingly he also disclosed during that conversation with Deadline’s Baz Bamigboye that his lead for The Movie Critic would be “somebody in the 35-year-old ballpark” and “definitely be a new leading man for me.” So either Pitt isn’t going to be playing the lead, or Tarantino has had a change of heart.
