As we await the second season of House of the Dragon this summer, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO Davis Zaslov has dropped a little nugget of information on another of HBO’s planned Game of Thrones spinoffs, revealing that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight has started pre-production and is targeting a “late 2025” premiere.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s Dunk & Egg novellas and serving as a prequel to A Song of Ice and Fire, the series is being written by Martin and Ira Parker who also executive produce with House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal.
The official logline reads: A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.
