20th Century Fox has snapped up the movie rights to Boom! Studios’ comic book series Lumberjanes, with The Wrap reporting that Will Widger (Wish, Munchkin) is set to pen the script for a live-action adaptation.
Created by Shannon Watters, Grace Ellis, Noelle Stevenson and Brooke A. Allen, Lumberjanes tells the story of five female friends who battle supernatural forces at summer camp. Originally intended as an eight-part limited series, it soon received an ongoing series after strong sales and critical acclaim, including two Eisner Award nominations.
Lumberjanes is said to be a priority project for Fox, and will be produced by Boom! Studios executives Ross Richie and Stephen Cristy.
