4 Characters Marvel’s Cinematic Universe Has To Introduce

June 8, 2015 by Samuel Brace

Samuel Brace with four characters Marvel’s Cinematic Universe has to introduce…

With the recent release of Marvel’s latest Avengers extravaganza, Age of Ultron, I thought we should take a look at the Marvel characters, both heroic and villainous, that the folks running the biggest show in town should look to include in future films. We all know that a slate of new characters are on the way, players such as Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, Black Panther and The Inhumans but what as yet unannounced characters would greatly benefit the ever growing and forever box office demolishing Marvel Cinematic Universe? Here’s some ideas…

 Living Tribunal

“With great power comes great responsibility and little happiness”.

For those that don’t know this guy, bear with me, he’s a little out there. For the uninitiated the Living Tribunal is a cosmic entity that basically oversees the many different universes (multiverse) with in the big wide world(s) of Marvel. He is an unbelievably powerful humanoid who is as old as the universe itself, if you can wrap your head around that. He has a very important job and function from his perch high up above everything which is to oversee all and keep balance throughout the alternative universes. So if some crazy deity, or mad Titan was to upset the apple cart and gain too much power this guy would step in and make sure no one universe has more power than the others. Something he has had to do on a few occasions. If all this sounds totally bonkers that’s because it is, it’s mind bending stuff but that’s what makes him… or I suppose he’s actually an it… anyway that’s what makes the Living Tribunal so god-damn awesome and so completely different from anything else we would have seen so far.

Imagine a scenario, say at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, once our heroes have (somehow) defeated Thanos, dealt with the infinity gauntlet and have taken it upon themselves to deliver Thanos to the feet of the one being who has the authority to punish such a person. Picture Star-Killer, Doctor Strange, Cap and the rest throwing down Thanos before the mighty Living Tribunal in order for it to reign down justice upon him. It would be a great post credit scene for sure, working to introduce a new player into the MCU but also showing that there are consequences for one’s actions. Also if say the Tribunal decides to only banish Thanos to another reality that would leave the door for the Titan to perhaps return sometime in the future, setting up the ‘Heart of the Universe’ storyline or some such variant.

Introducing the Living Tribunal would be epic, yes it would be a stretch for some, a lot to wrap your head around for sure, but if done correctly, at the right time, once the casual fan has witnessed things such as Doctor Strange traversing dimensions and Thanos unmaking galaxies with the infinity gauntlet, people should be sufficiently acclimatised to such pseudo scientific exploits. He would definitely add an intriguing layer to the MCU going forward and would look incredible on screen. I for one am praying that the Tribunal rears its golden head sometime in the near future.
