5 Villains Who Should Be Introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

September 23, 2014 by Thomas Roach

Dormammu

Dormammu is a demon from an alternate dimension who is the antagonist to Doctor Strange. Dormammu is immortal and has a range of mystic powers. Dormammu is rumoured to be the villain in the upcoming Doctor Strange movie which is due for release in 2016. Alternatively, Baron Mordo could be the villain in Doctor Strange or could feature alongside Dormammu, but personally I think Dormammu would be a more interesting villain and much more of a visual spectacle on screen. From what Kevin Feige has said about Doctor Strange being trippy with lots of inter-dimensional aspects, expect Dormammu to feature.

Doctor Doom

Doctor Doom is one of the most iconic villains of the Marvel lore. Creator Stan Lee has even said that Doctor Doom is his favourite villain that he has created. Whilst he is better known as the main bad guy of the Fantastic Four, in the comics he has taken on most of the heroes. He has been an antagonist for the Avengers and even faced off with Iron Man. Doom has featured in some prominent Avengers storylines so despite being over at Fox, there is a very slim chance that the character could be used as part of the MCU without using the Fantastic Four themselves. Doom is an unlikely candidate but fans would surely love seeing him appear on the big screen up against the Avengers. Very unlikely, but fingers crossed with this one.

Honourable Mention – The Real Mandarin

In Iron Man 3 we were supposedly given the titular character’s most iconic villain, The Mandarin. It was announced that Ben Kingsley would be playing the villain. There was mixed reaction to the character not being Chinese but from the trailers Kingsley certainly looked and sounded menacing as the villain. However it is revealed in the film that Ben Kingsley’s character is an actor called Trevor Slattery who was hired by Aldrich Killian to be the face of his attacks. This twist was not well received by fans, who were angry that Iron Man’s arch nemesis was turned into a joke. In the Marvel One-Shot it is revealed that The Mandarin is a real person and has not taken too kindly to Slattery’s imitation. With talks of Iron Man 4 there is a chance that the real Mandarin will appear at some point. It would please a lot of fans to see the character done right.

What other villains would you like to see in the MCU? Let us know…
