EJ Moreno with five wrestlers who should sign to All Elite Wrestling…
All Elite Wrestling is about to take the industry by storm. The newest promotion, started by Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks, is still in the early stages, building a roster and securing TV deals, but that doesn’t mean the hype isn’t getting very real. All eyes are on them now, and the next few moves will be an early sign of what’s to come.
With wrestlers like PAC, Adam Page, and Chris Jericho already signed up with the company, there is still plenty of room for some major players in the business. With this list, I’ve collected some of my personal favorites as well as some budding names in professional wrestling right now. Think of it as a way to show respect to some great performers but also get their names buzzing on social media to grab AEW’s attention. Don’t expect to see big WWE names on here like AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura on here, as I want to focus on the next generation of stars.
Although, there is one big name…
Honorable Mention:
– Kenny Omega
The only “massive star” on this list gets an honorable mention as it does seem crazy he isn’t officially signed to AEW yet. While he is waiting for his New Japan Pro Wrestling contract to expire, the rumors of him going to WWE are growing. All Elite Wrestling needs to lock down this name as soon as possible, primarily as the best way to cement themselves as the real deal.
5. David Starr
All pun intended, but David Starr is on his way to becoming a real global superstar. The current RPW British Cruiserweight Champion, Starr is everything the All Elite Wrestling roster craves. With charisma for days and some impressive in-ring ability, David Starr is the perfect person to build your mid-card around. I can see Starr being a long-reigning Intercontinental for AEW, further cementing his Chris Jericho-esque vibe. No company has locked down the wrestler to a contract, with WWE passing on him after a tryout and a short stint in ROH so that AEW can fix those mistakes by signing him.
4. Effy
Internet superstar & feminist icon, Effy is the perfect fit for The Elite’s “Change The World” motto. One of the most significant differences AEW needs is a platform for LGBTQ wrestlers to shine. Not only does Effy fall under that umbrella, but he is a damn good wrestler. His work in 2018 was some of the strongest from anyone in the industry, turning out brutal hardcore matches and even taking on kid wrestling Izzy. Effy can play any role needed; a diverse ability required for a growing company like All Elite Wrestling. His insane social media content also fits The Elite’s style of marketing.
