Oscar-winning British filmmaker David Puttnam (Chariots of Fire) is returning to filmmaking for his first feature in 15 years, with Screen Daily reporting that he’s set to produce Arctic 30 alongside Emma Thompson, who is helping to pen the script.
An adaptation of Ben Stewart’s new book Don’t Trust, Don’t Fear, Don’t Beg: The Extraordinary Story of the Arctic 30, which tells the story of 30 Greenpeace activists who were jailed in Russia after protesting against drilling in the Arctic.
“For me it hits every button,” states Puttnam. “I’m constantly reminded of the remark by Governor Jay Inslee of Washington State to the effect that our children ‘are the first generation to feel the impact of climate change, and the last generation that can actually do something about it’.”
