With no less than FOUR Robin Hood movies in development, it looks like Lionsgate has got a head start on its rivals, with Deadline revealing that Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror) has signed on to direct Robin Hood: Origins.
Likened to The Dark Knight Trilogy and described as a “gritty take” on the legend, Robin Hood: Origins will see Robin returning from the Crusades to a Sherwood Forest rife with crime and corruption, and sets out to form a band of outlaws to take matters into their own hands.
Robin Hood: Origins has been written by Joby Harold (the upcoming King Arthur: Knights of the Round Table), and will be produced by Leonardo DiCaprio through his Appian Way banner. The plan is for production to get underway early next year, before Sony, Disney and Warner Bros. can get their own Robin Hood movies up and running.
