After close to twenty years in development hell, it looks like the adaptation of Steve Alten’s 1997 novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror is set to move ahead at Warner Bros., with Variety reporting that Eli Roth (Hostel) is in talks to direct.
The book revolves around two men who attempt to track and capture an ancient Megalodon who is terrorising the California coast, although the movie will shift the action to China after Chinese production company Gravity Pictures stepped in to co-finance the project.
Before he gets to grips with Meg, Roth -who has both The Green Inferno and Knock, Knock arriving this year – is also set to host Discovery Channel’s Shark After Dark and Shark Week next month.
