Luther star Idris Elba has signed on to executive produce and star in Turn Up Charlie, a new comedy series for Netflix from Brown Eyed Boy Productions.
The half-hour series has received an eight episode order, and will see Elba portraying the eponymous Charlie, described as a struggling DJ and eternal bachelor, who is given a final chance at success when he reluctantly becomes a manny to his famous best friend’s problem-child daughter.
Elba, who will next be seen in this month’s Avengers: Infinity War, reprising his Thor role as Heimdall, is also currently shooting a new series of the BBC crime drama Luther, which is expected to air later this year.
