Ron Howard to direct The Warehouse

May 1, 2018 by Matt Rodgers

After what must have been a tumultuous stint on Solo: A Star Wars Story, having been something of a directorial Millennium Falcon himself, as he dropped in at the last minute to save the day, Ron Howard is now lining up his first post-Star Wars directing gig, and with the help of his long-time producer, Brian Grazer, has opted for an adaptation of Rob Hart novel The Warehouse.

The novel, which will be published next year, was the subject of a bidding war that Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment won, and tells the story of a future America that has been ravaged by political strife and climate change. An online retail giant named Cloud has marketed itself as the global saviour, but it hides a dark truth. Two Cloud employees, one in security and one a spy, meet and fall in love, but their relationship is threatened by their positions within the mega-corporation they both work for.

Obviously its in the earliest stages of development, so that’s all there is to report for now, and Howard has the small matter of the Solo: A Star Wars Story Cannes World Premiere next week to worry about.
