Variety is reporting that 10 Cloverfield Lane director Dan Trachtenberg is set to take over as director on Amazon’s pilot episode of The Boys after Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg were forced to bow out due to scheduling conflicts.
Based on the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic book series, The Boys takes place in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and follows a group of vigilantes known as ‘The Boys’, who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.
Rogen and Goldberg remain attached to The Boys as executive producers, while Supernatural’s Eric Kripke serves as showrunner. Featuring in the cast are Karl Urban (Thor: Ragnarok), Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games), Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad), Laz Alonso (The Mysteries of Laura), Antony Starr (American Gothic), Dominique McElligott (The Last Tycoon), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), Erin Moriarty (True Detective), Jessie T. Usher (Independence Day: Resurgence), and Nathan Mitchell (iZombie).
Filming on The Boys is due to get underway this Spring while the show is slated to arrive on Amazon Prime in 2019.
