Deadline is reporting that Netflix has come out victorious in a hotly-contested bidding war for Failsafe, an adaptation of the Vault Comics series of the same name, which is being produced by Michael B. Jordan with Joe Robert Cole (Black Panther) penning the script.
Created by F.J. Desanto, Todd Farmer, and Federico Dallochi, Failsafe follows John Ravane, “a legendary insurgent hunter who thought he had executed the last nanotech-enhanced super soldier, in a personal battle that included the kidnap of his daughter. A decade later, it becomes clear that sleeper agents scattered around the country are activating, in an attempt to take over New York, and the government leader who pressed him into duty last time has been exposed as corrupt.”
Jordan is producing the series through his Outlier Society Productions company and has an eye on starring as the protagonist Ravane. He’ll apparently decide once the script comes in.
Fresh off Black Panther’s success, Jordan is currently shooting Creed II with Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren, and will next be seen in HBO’s Fahrenheit 451, which is set to screen at Cannes this month.
