Paramount Pictures is looking to replicate the success of A Quiet Place with another low-budget horror-thriller, with the studio fast-tracking Crawl from director Alexandre Aja (Piranha 3D, Horns) and producers Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider-Man) and Craig Flores (Fathers and Daughters, 300: Rise of an Empire).
Originally penned by Shawn and Michael Rasmussen, with rewrites from Aja, Crawl follows “a young woman who, while struggling to save her father during a Category 5 hurricane, finds herself trapped inside a flooding house and fighting for her life against Florida’s most savage and feared predators.”
The project had previously been in development at Lakeshore Entertainment and Annapurna Pictures before making its way to Paramount. Pre-production is underway, with filming slated to take place this year.
In addition to Crawl, Raimi is also attached as producer on a remake of The Grudge, which has Nicolas Pesce (The Eyes of My Mother) directing.
