A couple of weeks ago an alleged casting breakdown for Star Wars: Episode IX landed online, suggesting that Lucasfilm and J.J. Abrams are seeking an actress to portray the character of ‘Mara’ – which, as you might expect, prompted speculation about the possible introduction of the EU character Mara Jade into the official Disney canon.
Well, now we have a casting notice for another new female character, with The Hashtag Show reporting that the production is looking for an actress to portray ‘Caro’, who having a “captivating naturalness and ease to her manner” and a “leader and problem solver, smart with a great sense of humor and a strong will. All this comes to her effortlessly.”
With filming on Episode IX set to begin this July, we should soon get some official casting news, although it’s unlikely we’ll hear anything in the way of character details given the enormous secrecy that surrounds the Star Wars franchise.
Meanwhile, in one other piece of news, John Boyega has hinted at a possible time-jump between Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: Episode IX, with the Finn actor telling Yahoo! that: “I can’t wait to start shooting the next and final leg of the franchise. The first step is growing out my hair, so you can wait for the trailer to see why.”
