Filmmaker Zack Snyder has taken to the social media site Vero to share an image of a pre-Man of Steel Henry Cavill dressed in Christopher Reeve’s classic Superman suit, which the director used to convince Warner Bros. executives that Cavill was the man for the job in the 2013 DCEU-launching superhero blockbuster.
“This was the shot I did to show the studio that this was my Superman… they agreed,” wrote Snyder. “Got the suit from Warner archives and Henry honored its legacy.”

After securing the role, Cavill portrayed Superman in Man of Steel, 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2017’s Justice League. His next outing is yet to be confirmed, although there have been rumours of an appearance in the currently-in-production Shazam! movie, while Cavill himself recently revealed he’s been having conversations about a potential Man of Steel 2, but is unsure about when he’ll next reprise the role.
