Wunderkind and New Jersey native Emily DiPrimio’s horror film Carver has been selected as the opening night film of the second annual Reel East Film Festival in Oaklyn, New Jersey on August 21 2015 at 19:30. In attendance will be the fourteen year DiPrimio to introduce the film as well as participate in a post-screening Q&A.
Carver offers up a suspenseful tale of dread in which a group of teens who regret a despicable act they committed years earlier, when their actions had left three dead. Now, on the anniversary of the crimes an ominous carved pumpkin is found at each of their homes, but will revenge come in human or nonhuman form?
“Carver, which is helmed by a teen, is a great example of DIY filmmaking,” festival director Matthew Sorrento told Flickering Myth. “Great filmmakers like David Mamet tell aspiring directors to go out and make your own movie, with the means to available today, and Carver shows what talent, some gumption, and a great resource like Kickstarter can lead to.”
Now in its second year, the Reel East Film Festival is committed to providing a forum for both established and up and coming filmmakers to showcase their work. Presented by the Camden County Board of Freeholders and Rutgers-Camden Film Studies, REFF screens independent films from around the world, while also focusing on the work of local filmmakers in the Camden County and Southern New Jersey area. The Reel East Film Festival will be held August 21-23, 2015, at the Ritz Theatre in Oaklyn, NJ.
