It Follows and Independence Day: Resurgence star Maika Monroe has become the latest addition to the cast of Honey Boy, a drama based upon the life of Shia LaBeouf.
The film is being directed by Alma Har’el (Bombay Beach) from a script by LaBeouf under the pen name Otis Lort. Lucas Hedges (Lady Bird) and Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place) will play young versions of LaBeouf/Lort, with the film taking place across two time periods and exploring his fledgling career as an actor alongside his relationship with his his law-breaking, alcohol-abusing father.
Monroe is set to play a young aspiring actress called Sandra. She joins a cast that also includes Natasha Lyonne (Orange is the New Black), Martin Starr (Silicon Valley), Byron Bowers (The Chi) and Laura San Giacomo (NCIS).
Monroe has a host of projects on the horizon, including Hot Summer Nights [watch the trailer here], sci-fi Tau, Neil Jordan thriller The Widow, dark comedy Villains, and drama The Education of Fredrick Fitzell.
