In addition to the upcoming Venom movie, Sony has a number of Spider-Man spinoffs in various stages of development, including the now-delayed Silver & Black, the Spike Lee-directed Nightwatch, and an adaptation of Mobius, the Living Vampire.
Aside from the fact that Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Lost in Space) are writing the screenplay, we know very little about the Morbius movie at this point, but the folks at ThatHashtagShow are reporting that a casting search is underway for the title character, with Sony looking for a male of any ethnicity, aged between 30 and 37.
The site also offered up an alleged logline for the project, which is described as follows:
“Horror action story of a scientist who, in trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally transformed himself into a living vampire who, though disgusted by his own bloodlust, chooses to prey upon criminals he deems unworthy of life.”
Training Day and The Equalizer director Antoine Fuqua recently revealed that he passed on the opportunity to direct Morbius, the Living Vampire, and according to this latest report The Fate of the Furious helmer F. Gary Gray has also followed suit.
As yet there’s no word on a potential release date for Morbius, or any of Sony’s other Spidey spinoffs, beyond that of Venom which will open this October. Watch the latest trailer here.
