After NBC opted to pass on the pilot, Deadline is reporting that Charter Communications is now in talks with Sony TV about picking up the Bad Boys TV spinoff L.A.’s Finest.
According to the site, a series order deal is likely, with Charter looking to use the show as a key launch piece of its Spectrum cable systems. The news follows Charter’s recent co-production deals with AMC Networks and Viacom as the company signals its intention to launch new high-end original content.
L.A.’s Finest sees Gabrielle Union reprising her role from Bad Boys II as Syd Burnett, who has now left the DEA and is working as a a police detective in Los Angeles, where she is partnered with working mother Nancy McKenna (Jessica Alba). Union and Alba were joined in the cast of the pilot by Ernie Hudson, Zach Gilford, Duane Martin, Ryan McPartlin and Zach McGowan.
As well as L.A.’s Finest, Sony remains in development on a third instalment of the movie franchise, Bad Boys For Life, which will reunite Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
