The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Hailee Steinfeld (The Edge of Seventeen, Pitch Perfect 3) has signed on to headline Dickinson, a new straight-to-series comedy series from Anonymous Content, which has received a straight-to-series order from Apple.
Wrriten by Alena Smith (The Affair) and executive produced and directed by David Gordon Green (Vice Principals), Dickinson will see Steinfeld as famed American poet Emily Dickinson; taking place in the 1800s, the series is described as “coming-of-age story and one woman’s fight to get her voice heard [and] explores the constraints of society, gender and family from the perspective of a budding writer who doesn’t fit in to her own time through her imaginative point of view.”
Dickinson will mark the first series regular role for Steinfeld, who is currently working on her first full-length music album and will need be seen on the screen in the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee, which opens in December.
