After smashing the record for the biggest opening weekend of all time, as well as becoming the fastest movie to reach $1 billion, Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is celebrating another box office success today as the movie becomes only the fourth film in history to reach $2 billion worldwide.
Domestically, Infinity War has pulled in $656.1 million and continues to pull in the cash, coming fifth in the chart this past weekend. However, it still trails Black Panther, which has earned $699.4 million in North America – Marvel’s biggest domestic haul.
Internationally, the superhero blockbuster has $1.346 billion for a grand total of $2.002 billion and counting. That’s the most for any Marvel movie (and any superhero movie) and will likely end up as the highest-grossing film not directed by James Cameron, a spot currently held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens on $2.06 billion.
Avatar remains the highest-grossing movie of all time on $2.78 billion, with Titanic following on $2.18 billion.
