Liquid Bit and BumbleBear Games have announced that their strategic eight player arcade action platformer Killer Queen Black will be coming digitally to the Nintendo Switch and PC early 2019. Based on 2013’s Killer Queen by BumbleBear’s Nik Mikros and Joshua DeBonis, Killer Queen Black has been ‘fine tuned’ to make it more suitable for playing at home.
With a glam rock inspired 16bit pixel art style and an 80s style soundtrack, Killer Queen Black will see up to 8 players divided into two teams and battle it out to see who becomes queen of the hive. Within each team one person is selected to be the Queen while other players take on the role of drones and to start with only the Queen is armed although drones can be transformed into warriors by entering gateways. These gateways provide powerful upgrades such as speed boosts and a variety of weapons, including maces, lances, swords, shields and even laser rifles.
Three types of victory can be achieved, Economic Victories rely on drones collecting berries first, Snail Victories involve riding a snail between the goal posts and Military Victories require the enemy queen to be killed three times.
“As lifelong arcade-goers, the phenomena that Killer Queen has become has been incredible to experience,” said Matt Tesch, co-founder of Liquid Bit. “Bringing the game to Nintendo Switch and PC is surreal and we’re eagerly anticipating watching new competitors battle for the Black team.”
Killer Queen Black will be available digitally on Switch and PC very early 2019.
