Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has taken to social media to announce that he has completed his first draft of the script for 2020’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, with the filmmaker sharing a photo of the cover and the caption “Every bit of my heart”.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Collider, Marvel Studios chief confirmed that Gunn “has delivered a draft and we begin official pre-production on that very, very soon. [We will] be shooting early next year.”
Gunn recently confirmed that Guardians Vol. 3 will be set after Avengers: Infinity War and the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4, and with Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) and Dave Bautista (Drax) both having confirmed their return for the A-holes’ third outing, it seems pretty safe to assume that we’ll be seeing most of the team back together in 2020.
Whether that includes Gamora or not remains to be seen…
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is slated for release in 2010.
