Vacation directors to write the Spider-Man reboot

July 17, 2015 by Gary Collinson

They may have missed out on directing to Cop Car’s Jon Watts, but it seems that Sony and Marvel were impressed enough with John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein to snap them up as screenwriters for the upcoming Spider-Man reboot.

The duo, whose writing credits include Horrible Bosses, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, are making their directing debut this year with the comedy reboot/sequel Vacation. They are now in talks with Sony, and are expected to close a deal with the studio soon.

The currently untitled Spider-Man reboot is set to star Tom Holland (The Impossible) as the wall-crawler and Marisa Tomei (The Wrestler) as Aunt May. It is currently set for release on July 28th, 2017.
