If we believe everything we read, Warner Bros. is currently a little undecided about how to proceed with The Batman, with various conflicting rumours this past month suggesting that the film is being eyed as a soft reboot within the DC Extended Universe, or as a hard reboot which may or may not exist in the same world as the planned Joker origin movie.
From the outside, things appear to be completely up in the air at present, but it seems that may not quite be the case after all, as Batman on Film is reporting that Warner Bros. is starting to hire people to work on the Matt Reeves-directed movie, and that they “are moving towards pre-production and filming could start at some point relatively soon, maybe”.

So, not much to go on at all, but assuming the information is accurate, it may mean that we’re finally about to get some kind of official news and clarification on the project from Warner Bros. and DC Films, as the incessant rumour and speculation has been exhausting.
Here’s hoping for some sort of announcement at Comic-Con later this month…
