Ball Grabbers brings a bit of footy combat to Steam

July 13, 2018 by Andrew Newton

Back in the old 8/16 bit days the best way for developers to make sports games more appealing to a wider audience was to make them violent and it was this thinking that gave us classics like Codemasters’ Street Gang Football and Speedball 2 by The Bitmap Brothers.  Fortunately, violent combative sports is a genre that has stood the test of time and the latest offering to arrive on Steam is Ball Grabbers from indie developer Part Time Monkey.

Ball Grabbers is an arcade 1v1 sports fighting game that combines the glorious game of football with tackles and punches.  Players will be able to choose from three characters in the roster and take on their opponent in five different arenas.  As well as a different layout, each arena will have their own selection of hazards and obstacles including animals, bombs and traps.

Featuring:

  • Three characters to choose from, each with their own strengths.
  • Five uniquely designed arenas to fight over.
  • A range of obstacles and hazards such as animals, bombs and traps.
  • Game can be played with 2 controllers or on a single keyboard (like the good old days).

“Ball Grabbers captures the spirit of neo classics such as Gang Beasts and Mario Strikers, and it introduces a whole new gameplay perspective” says Tuomas Erikoinen, founder at Part Time Monkey. “If you play against a friend, endless fun is fully guaranteed”.

Ball Grabbers is available now on Steam with a limited time 20% discount.
