Robert Zemeckis has revealed his thoughts on directing a Marvel or DC movie

July 19, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Robert Zemeckis is one of the biggest names in directing but would he consider helming a Marvel or DC movie in the future?

Director of such classics as Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Forrest Gump, and Cast Away, Zemeckis is as accomplished as it gets. One of the biggest markets for directors these days is, of course, the superhero movie but would Zemeckis be interested in crafting a film in this space?

Speaking to BadTaste, the iconic director said he would be happy to be involved in such a movie, as long as he can put his own spin on things: “I would do any project… I don’t have any… you know, the projects that I’m attracted to are the ones that require the director’s vision. You know, the filmmaker’s own and personal artistic stamp. So yeah, if there’s room for that, to do that in a comic book movie inspired story, I have no problem. I just wouldn’t want to do a project that is… something that could be interchanged with five or six directors.”

There you have it, Zemeckis – who was heavily linked to DC’s The Flash – is onboard if he is given the free reign to create something truly unique to him and his sensibilities. Would you like to see him behind the camera for Marvel or DC? Let us know in the comments below…
