Having dipped his toes into the Marvel universe with 2013’s Iron Man 3 (which proved enormously successful at the box office with $1.215 billion in the bank), director Shane Black has revealed to Collider that he’s keen to turn his hand to DC – and in particular, The CW’s Supergirl and The Flash TV shows.
“You wouldn’t want to take a show that already has a style,” said Black when asked if he has any ambitions to direct for TV. “Like Homeland is so great, I love Homeland, but you probably want to take something more like Supergirl. And just do one episode that’s just like, ‘What the…what?’” Actually, one weekend I put it on and for some reason, over the next two weeks, I watched the first two seasons of Supergirl. And actually thought, ‘You know this is a pretty entertaining show.’ And The Flash, same thing.”
Black is currently putting the finishing touches to his upcoming sci-fi action reboot The Predator, which is set to undergo some additional photography in August ahead of its September release. His schedule seems clear after that, so maybe The CW could get on the phone to his agent in time for a Supergirl or Flash Christmas special?
