Florence Pugh, Will Poulter and Jack Reynor land roles in Hereditary director Ari Aster’s new horror movie

July 31, 2018 by Tom Beasley

After wowing critics with his debut Hereditary, writer-director Ari Aster has lined up a killer young cast for his second movie, including Lady Macbeth actress Florence Pugh and Detroit stars Will Poulter and Jack Reynor.

Pugh let the news of her casting out of the bag while promoting new BBC John le Carré adaptation The Little Drummer Girl and Collider broke the news that Poulter and Reynor are also involved.

Plot details for Aster’s follow-up to one of the scariest films in years remain scarce, but it is tentatively titled Midsommer.

According to the Collider report, Pugh and Reynor will play a young couple who travel to a rural Swedish town for a famed mid-summer festival that turns out to be something incredibly violent and focused around a pagan cult.

The movie sounds very much within Aster’s wheelhouse and this trio represents some of the most compelling talent in Hollywood today.

They all have interesting slates ahead of them, with Pugh playing WWE wrestler Paige in Fighting With My Family, while Reynor is playing a wolf in Andy Serkis’s Mowgli and Poulter has Lenny Abrahamson’s The Little Stranger next on the horizon.

Filming on Aster’s new movie is currently taking place in Budapest, Hungary, with Hereditary distributors A24 handling the production.

There is no word on a release date as yet.
