Kick-Ass 2 and Truth or Dare director Jeff Wadlow is set to reunite with Blumhouse Productions on a big screen reboot of the long-running ABC series Fantasy Island, which is being produced by rights holders Sony Pictures.
Created by Aaron Spelling and running between 1977 and 1984, Fantasy Island starred Ricardo Montalban as Mr. Roarke, the overseer of a mysterious island where visitors could come and live out their fantasies – for a price.
A few years ago, Sony had attempted to reboot the series on the small screen, with Sheldon Turner (Up in the Air) penning the script for a pilot featuring a gender-swapped Roarke, although it failed to materialise.
The Fantasy Island movie will reunite Wadlow with Truth or Dare co-writers Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs, as well as Blumhouse’s Jason Blum, who is serving as producer.
