Italian comic book publisher Sergio Bonelli Editore has announced that it is developing an English language TV adaptation of the cult horror series Dylan Dog.
The comic, created by Tiziano Scalvi, launched in 1986 and follows the titular protagonist, a paranormal investigator who explores cases involving various monsters, ghosts, vampires, werewolves and zombies.
Dylan Dog has sold over 50 million copies worldwide, and was previously adapted for the big screen with 2011’s Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, which saw Brandon Routh in the title role.
The film and TV rights to Dylan Dog were reacquired by Bonelli last year, with the publisher opting to control production on its properties to ensure that “the essence of our characters and our properties remain intact.”
