Tyrese Gibson has met with Warner Bros. about Green Lantern role

July 24, 2015 by Gary Collinson

For the past few months, Tyrese Gibson has been lobbying hard for the role of John Stewart in the upcoming Green Lantern movie from Warner Bros., which we now know is going by the title of Green Lantern Corps, and will likely feature multiple Green Lanterns.

Well, the Fast & Furius star has now confirmed to Collider that he has met with the studio about the part, stating that:

“I’ve already had a couple of meetings at Warner Bros., so we’ll see what happens. I do believe that there needs to be more black superheroes out there, but that’s not even my motivation. I think I would be the best Green Lantern and based on my fans and supporters that spent around $6 billion in box office receipts, I feel like there’s a fanbase of fans out there waiting to see me put on this green suit and do my thing. So I would love to confirm something today but I can’t. We’ll just keep following up.”

Would you like to see Tyrese as John Stewart, and if not, who should Warner Bros. cast in the role?

Green Lantern Corps is set for release on June 19th 2020.
