Indie developer David Stark has announced that Airships: Conquer the Skies will be leaving Steam Early Access for a full release on the 16th August. After 3 years on Early Access players will now be able to enjoy this steampunk pixel air combat game in all its glory.
In Airships: Conquer the Skies players design their own pixel airships out of functional modules and take to the skies to take on the enemy. Each module is operated by individual crew members and these can allow players to carry out specific roles such as shooting, ramming and boarding actions. The designing of the ship is crucial as are the tactics used.
For those wanting to fight against their friends, it is also possible to compete in internet and LAN matches.
Alongside the launch date announcement comes the release of the Dev 10 build which introduces the following to the game:
- Explosions.
- Free-form ship design where you’re not limited to some fixed layout.
- Historically authentic heraldry.
- Dragon taming.
- Giant sky squid that eat your crew.
- Grappling hooks.
- Giant land-walkers.
- An in-game editor for challenge missions.
- A combat replay system that lets you re-enter the fight on either side.
- Multiplayer map conquest.
- Extensive modding support with more than a hundred mods, adding a huge number of of extra modules and other things.
Airships: Conquer the Skies will see a full release on Steam on 16th August.
