Indie developer Mega Cat Studios has announced the release of their vintage action co-op beat ’em up Coffee Crisis on Xbox One. This local co-op pixel art brawler already sees players bashing aliens on PC, Mac, Linux and Sega Megadrive (Genesis to our American friends). For a glimpse of the action check out the trailer below.
Set in the city of Pittsburgh, Coffee Crisis thrusts players into the roles of baristas Nick and Ashley as they fight off the alien invaders who would rob the world of its coffee, heavy metal music and cat videos. The Smurglian race have assimilated the elderly, bros, cowgirls and country western singers and it is up to players to stop them.

Coffee Crisis is an arcade-style beat ’em up that pays homage to the nineties era of classic arcade and 16-bit brawlers. Play solo or join up with a friend to fight across eight unique locations ranging from your Coffee House HQ to the far reaches of outer space. Go up against an army of wild alien enemies, and the humans that have been taken over by them using weapons, special moves, suplexes, and coffee!
