Disney’s Lady and the Tramp adds Tessa Thompson, Thomas Mann and Benedict Wong

August 18, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

Casting continues on Disney’s live-action remake of its 1955 animated classic Lady and the Tramp, with Thor: Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson signing on to lend her voice to Lady, Thomas Mann (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) portraying her human owner Jim Dear, and Benedict Wong (Avengers: Infinity War) voicing Bull.

The three new additions join the previously announced Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) as Tramp, Ashley Jensen (Extras) as Scottish Terrier Jackie, and Kiersey Clemons (Hearts Beat Loud) as Jim Dear’s wife Darling.

Lady and the Tramp tells the story of Lady, an American Cocker Spaniel who finds herself discarded by her upper-middle class family after the birth of a baby. She soon meets a stray mongrel called Tramp, who shows her how to live “footlose and collar free” and together they embark on a romantic adventure and fall in love.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie helmer Charlie Bean is directing Lady and the Tramp, which is being produced for Disney’s upcoming streaming service along with another animated adaptation, The Sword in the Stone.
