NBC developing female-led Grimm spinoff

October 18, 2018 by Gary Collinson

With the show coming to an end last year, NBC is looking to revive the occult procedural Grimm with a new female-led spinoff, Deadline has revealed.

The as-yet-untitled project has been written by Melissa Glenn (Iron Fist) and will reportedly build off the mythology of the original series, featuring “returning fan favorites while also introducing new characters, new dangers and epic new mysteries.”

Glenn will also serve as executive producer on the offshoot, while Grimm co-creators and showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf are attached as consulting producers. As yet, there’s no word on any potential casting.

Grimm launched in 2011 and revolved around Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), a Portland homicide detective who discovers that he is a Grimm – a line of guardians sworn to keep the balance between humanity and mythological creatures. The show ran for 123 episodes across six seasons, ending in March 2017.
