The Stargirl series for the DC Universe streaming service is picking up some steam now. After casting Brec Bassinger in the lead role of Courtney Whitemore, a.k.a. Stargirl, back in September, DC’s Geoff Johns has announced a new addition to the show, as Anjelika Washington (Young Sheldon) has been cast in a role that is currently being kept under wraps.
“Anjelika Washington is a bright, funny and unbelievably talented actor and I’m thrilled to have her join the cast alongside Brec,” said Johns. “We’re withholding the character she’s playing for now, but it’ll be one familiar to DC Comics fans!”
According to the official logline, Stargirl “follows High School sophomore Courtney Whitmore who inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new DC Universe series reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in a fun, exciting and unpredictable series premiering in 2019.”
