“The story was really the thing that dictated who would come back,” said Kring. “The show was always designed to be very elastic in its premise. I always saw it as a show that could repopulate itself. I wanted to make it something that was easy for brand new viewers to watch. For them, caring about new characters is just as important as having former cast in the show.”
Heroes Reborn will take place a year after a major terrorist attack in Texas, which happaned to result in the death of Hayden Panettiere’s Claire Bennet: “In the real world of the story, [Claire] died a year prior to our story starting. That gets into some of the mythology that’s attached to the original show.”
Heroes Reborn is set to get underway on September 24th, with Heroes veterans Jack Coleman (Noah Bennett), Jimmy Jean-Louis (The Haitian), Masi Oki (Hiro Nakamura), Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman), Noah Grey-Cabbey (Micah Sanders), Sendhil Ramamurthy (Mohinder Suresh) and Christine Rose (Angela Petrelli) are returning for Heroes Reborn joined by newcomers Zachary Levi (Chuck), Robbie Kay (Once Upon A Time), Danika Yarosh (Shameless), Judith Shekoni (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2), Kiki Sukezane (Death Yankee 3), Henry Zebrowski (A to Z), Gatlin Green (Criminal Minds), and Ryan Guzman (The Boy Next Door).
