At the conclusion of last night’s finale of Elseworlds, we saw Ruby Rose’s Batwoman contacting Oliver Queen to warn him that Dr. John Deegan has made a new friend in Arkham Asylum in Roger Hayden, a.k.a. Psycho-Pirate, before cutting to a title card which reveals that next year’s DC crossover will be titled ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’.
That name will of course be instantly familiar to fans of DC Comics, given that its the title of a seminal twelve-issue maxiseries published between 1985 and 1986. It saw the Anti-Monitor (the evil counterpart of The Monitor, played by LaMonica Garrett in ‘Elseworlds’) setting out to destroy the various Earths in the DC Multiverse, and is notable for the deaths of several major DC characters, including Barry Allen.
Whether any of this will play out in the Arrowverse incarnation, well, we’ve got the best part of a year to wait and see. In the meantime, here’s the stinger setting up the crossover…
In addition to Grant Gustin (The Flash), Stephen Amell (Green Arrow), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl) and their fellow series regulars, Elseworlds featured guest appearances from Tyler Hoechlin (Superman), Ruby Rose (Batwoman), Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane), John Wesley Shipp (Jay Garrick/The Flash), Cassandra Jean Amell (Nora Fries), LaMonica Garrett (The Monitor), Bob Frazer (Psycho-Pirate) and Jeremy Davies (Dr. John Deegan).
