At the conclusion of last year’s ‘Elseworlds’, The CW revealed that 2019’s annual DC crossover will present an adaptation of the seminal DC Comics storyline ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’, and during the Television Critics Association winter press tour network chief Mark Pedowitz has teased that the event “will be the biggest and most complicated [crossover yet].”
“That is the intent, to take some big swings,” said Pedowitz when asked whether we can expect to see some major character deaths. “Can’t tell you if it’ll follow the comic book version, but it’ll take some big swings… We’re talking about a number of different ways to go. It is ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths,’ and if you know the history, things collapse.”
Having sat out ‘Elseworlds’, Pedowitz expressed his hope that DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be part of the ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ crossover, while he was also asked whether the potential addition of a Batwoman series alongside Arrow, The Flash, Legends, Supergirl and Black Lightning means that The CW has maxed out its DC slate:
“We haven’t hit that saturation point in my mind,” replied Pedowitz. “Things will age and we want to get the next generation of shows to keep The CW DC universe going for as long as possible.”
