Malin Akerman to lead Rashomon-style NBC pilot Prism

February 10, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Watchmen and Rampage actress Malin Akerman has signed on to lead the cast of NBC’s Rashomon-style drama pilot Prism, which is being written, executive produced and directed by Daniel Barnz (Cake).

The potential series will detail a murder trial, with each episode told from the perspective of a different key person. As per Variety, “each new version of the facts ratchets up the mystery and the suspense, calling into question everything we have seen so far and asking if the right person is on trial.”

Akerman is set to portray Rachel Lewis, a character described as “an Erin Brockovich-type force of nature [who] is empathetic as she is ruthless and a brilliantly passionate public defender.”

Akerman currently stars in the Showtime drama Billions, and Variety reports that she will remain part of that series going forward, albeit in a recurring role rather than a series regular.
