Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve continues to assemble a stellar cast for his upcoming adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune, with Deadpool 2 and Avengers: Infinity War star Josh Brolin the latest to join the sci-fi epic.
THR reports that Brolin is set to portray Gurney Halleck, “a troubadour-swordsman loyal to the family who is instrumental in the wakening of Paul Atreides’ cosmic powers, which will start a revolution.”
Timothee Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name) is set to lead the cast as Paul Atreides, alongside Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Fallout), Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), Dave Bautista (Avengers: Infinity War), Stellan Skarsgard (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again), Charlotte Rampling (Red Sparrow), Zendaya (Spider-Man: Homecoming) and Javier Bardem (Loving Pablo).

Dune follows Paul Atreides, a member of a noble family which controls the desert planet Arrakis, the galaxy’s only source of a rare and highly valuable spice drug. Betrayed by a galactic emperor, Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s control over the planet.
Filming on Dune, which is expected to span two films, is slated to take place in Budapest and Jordan in the spring.
