RJ Cyler, one of the stars of Sundance Film Festival darling Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, has been cast in Showtime’s new comedy show I’m Dying Up Here.
Cyler is set to be a series regular on the show if the pilot, which Showtime has ordered, gets picked up. Comedy legend Jim Carrey (Dumb & Dumber) is executive producing the show and may feature on screen too.
Based on the novel by William Knoedelseder, I’m Dying Up Here has been penned by former stand-up Dave Flebotte and is inspired by the Hollywood comedy club scene of the 1970’s. Jonathan Levine (50/50) is in the director’s chair for the pilot, which starts shooting later this year.
